Qwest and Static IP’s
Most ISP’s don’t offer static IP’s on their residential accounts since they don’t want users to run servers over their internet connection. If they do offer static IP’s they only do so on their business accounts which generally means higher price for slower service. After doing some research, I found that Qwest DSL offers static IPs if you use Qwest Basic as your internet service. The price is rather reasonable, if you are able to sign up for the two year commitment. Internet service comes to about $47 per month for 7Mbps down and 896Kbps up. A static IP is an additional $5.95 per month. They offer IP sets up to 64 IPs.
You may have to go through Qwest customer service to get Qwest.net as your ISP, for me the website only offered Qwest DSL with MSN as the ISP, which does not offer static IPs. Although they are both more or less handled through Qwest.
Visi.com is an alternative with a static IP included in their internet service package, but it costs a total of $63 for the same speed. Also as far as I can tell, only available in Minnesota.
