Vanishing Point

“At the end of our journey together, I will be discovered—and I will disappear.”

This riddle from Loki, is part of a new alternate reality game (ARG) which seems to be linked launch of Windows Vista. It appears to be run by the same company who put together the ilovebees ARG. For those of you unfamiliar with ARG, its a game that takes place on the web and in the real world. A puzzle with clues found in website, phone messages, and live events. Often times these games are used as a unique way to promote a new product.

It all started with an image on the MSDN IE blog, and image appeared with a series of cryptic letters and phrase “Most of you won’t figure this out”. Keys to encrypted text, were sent out to several bloggers. Each of them received a different key to a puzzle, once solved reveals a hidden section of the website. Each of these pages gave bits of story, or riddles of whats to come.

At the moment it seems, that the initial clues are just a pre-game for whats to come on January 8th in Las Vegas. Thats when the first counter on the website reaches zero.
